IASON intends to create the proper conditions for enhancing knowledge transfer capacity building, and market opportunities in using EO applications and mechanisms in specific research fields that are addressing climate actions resource efficiency and raw materials management.
In order to achieve its goal IASON will engage in the following activities:
The IASON project will run for two years and consists of 13 consortium members. The project is structured under a bunch of 7 Work packages. The following lines are setting out the main aspects of the overall strategy through a briefing of the work packages.
WP1: Project Management. An effective project management system requires effective decision-making, operational internal communication, development of solid work breakdown structures, schedules, costs and resource plans, effective administrative and technical control of the project.
WP2: Assessment of existing and on-going research efforts in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. The main outcome of the WP 2 is the creation of a portfolio of existing prominent results, and existing thematic networks clustered along the three thematic priorities and the two regions of Interest. Furthermore guidelines regarding the actions for the enhancement of Capacity Building and Technology transfer relating to the three thematic priorities in the two regions will be produced.
WP3: R & I Synergies, Fostering Cooperation. WP 3 will engage in activities that will foster cooperation between the network’s members/countries and in particular between the EU and the non-EU members/countries on recorded gaps. Furthermore WP 3 involves capacity building and technology transfer activities.
WP4: Comparing Research Agendas and Sustainable Funding. The main outcome of WP 4 will be a mechanism for fostering and promoting access of regional research institutes to funding opportunities towards a sustainable and market oriented uptake of results. In addition WP 4 will investigate and map national research and innovation agendas and discover gaps and cooperation opportunities to Horizon 2020 priorities.
WP5: R&I Uptake of Applications Results in fostering collaborative Future action in MED and BS Regions. The main outcome of WP 5 is the assessment of three key project’s results (PEG ASO, enviroGRIDS, and IMPACTMIN) and their application in the Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions under the thematic nodes (coastal monitoring, water and soil resources management, and mining and mineral exploration). This knowledge will be integrated with information provided by the Consortium partners to build the platform for transversal capacity building and delineate the future regional needs within the areas of Climate Change, resource efficiency and raw materials.
WP6: Dissemination and awareness strategy. The Dissemination work package is a horizontal activity which will be undertaken all through project lifetime. The key objective of this WP is to ensure a European-wide dissemination of the project results, but first a focused and strong dissemination strategy in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. Dissemination media include the IASON project brochures and newsletters, reports and deliverables, conference presentations, press releases and scientific papers.
WP7: Common Information Platform (CIP). WP 7 will complement the horizontal activities of IASON project providing the virtual interactive platform for the accumulation of information retrieved from WP 2, WP 3, WP 4 and WP 5. IASON CIP will develop a cooperative informational and capacity development element for IASON project, acting as an important tool for diffusing the capacity development efforts in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
