The event in Novi Sad gathered over 150 experts from 6 on-going and 3 past FP7 projects, renowned representatives the European Commission, the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), as well as the representatives of the governments from the region. The workshop was a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the latest achievements in coordination of the Earth observation (EO) activities and to address questions of interest for its future in the wider Balkan area.
Coordinators of the FP7 projects: BalkanGEONet, IASON, EOPower, DANCERS, enviroGRIDS, ENORASIS and InnoSense invited all interested parties to join them at the workshop in Novi Sad and contribute to the discussions, the exchange of information and the creation of a common strategy towards the upcoming H2020 programme. The JRC held a special session devoted to the prospective partnership between the DRDSI and all EO-related projects in the region. The participants addressed potential contributions of current and future projects to the DRDSI, the creation of recommendations for the EO components articulation and the creation of short and mid-term synergies.
